Spain - Against All Odds

Have you ever found humour in a difficult situation? I have found that while on the road many outrageous, and often funny, challenging situations arise. It's part of why we travel. After a two week holiday in Portugal, I was to meet a friend in Madrid, Spain. We had agreed to meet in "Plaza de Mayor". Unaware of how large it was and not expecting the square to be filled with thousands of concert revelers, we both independently concluded that it would be very difficult to find each other. I noticed a juggler juggling fire not to far from where I was standing. As both myself and my friend are jugglers, I thought that perhaps we could use this fire juggler as a beacon to tell the other person our location. To my disappointment, the juggler soon finished his show and moved along. But I was not disappointed for long. Just about a minute later, my friend did in fact arrive. He said that he had come to see the juggler and expected that he might find me there! Against all odds and with the use of no modern technology, we were connected and continued our adventures. Allow me to share with you some other anecdotes to explain how thinking on your feet, and keeping a positive attitude in challenging times can not only be helpful, but entertaining as well. Happy travels!
